→ What made you join the construction industry?

“Interning at Ames made me want to join the construction industry.”

→ What do you like best about working in construction?

“Constant learning opportunities. I am always growing and learning something new from the people I work with each day.”

→ What makes you proud of working in the construction industry?

“Being part of something bigger. I cannot wait to see the Mountain View Corridor Project complete and know I was part of something that helps people.”

→ What do you like best about working in construction?

“The versatility. You can work in residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure. You have different options to choose from. I also like that each day is different.”

→ What advice would you give women looking to join the construction industry?

“Don’t be afraid to use your voice and try something new that scares you. Whether that be running new equipment or asking for new opportunities in the field.”

→ What do you think the future holds for women in construction?

“I think the future for women in construction is promising. There are so many work opportunities for women in different industries. Because of more inclusive workplaces, companies are recognizing the benefit of recruiting women.”

→ What made you join the construction industry?

“I hit a hard point in my life and needed to be able to provide for myself and fast. I had done some construction work for my brother-in-law previously and he offered me a job.”

→ Did you face any challenges when you first started in the construction industry?  If so, what types of challenges and how did you overcome them?

“One of the struggles I faced as a 5'3" girl was proving how fit I am by showing that I could manually lift and move material.”

→ Do you feel that women are given the same opportunities for career growth as men?

“I think there is plenty of room for career growth for women as long as you are willing to work hard.”

→ What made you join the construction industry?

“I wanted a stable career and to be able to be a part of building something that could last generations.”

→ Did you face any challenges when you first started in the construction industry? If so, what types of challenges and how did you overcome them?

“I did face many challenges when I first started because I didn’t know anything about the construction industry and I didn’t have any experience. I was the first person in my family to join the construction industry. I don’t know if I have fully overcome it but I have tried my best to learn and ask as many questions as possible to become a better worker.”

→ What makes you proud of working in the construction industry?

“I’m proud of being a part of something that will last for generations. I can always tell my grandkids that I built that.”
