Diversity and Inclusion: Our Commitments

At Ames Construction, a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace is one where all employees feel valued, respected, and able to be their authentic self, regardless of background or personal identity. We embrace and celebrate our employees’ differences and other characteristics that make our employees unique. We believe different perspectives allow us to achieve our goals for our people, clients, business partners, and the communities where we work.

Ames is committed to a nondiscriminatory approach to provide equal opportunity for employment and advancement in all of our regions, departments, and jobsites. Ames identifies and eliminates barriers to allow every person to flourish in their career. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is engrained in our culture and is encouraged and supported by every person at Ames. From our recruitment efforts to our subcontracting plan, we continue to expand our efforts and explore new ways to increase diversity within Ames and the construction industry.

Ames’ diversity initiatives are applicable but not limited to our practices and policies on recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, professional development and training, promotions, transfers, development programs, layoffs, terminations, and the ongoing development of our work environment. This work environment encourages and enforces:

  • Respectful communication and cooperation between all employees.
  • Teamwork and employee participation, permitting the representation of all groups and employee perspectives.
  • Contributions to the communities we serve to promote a greater understanding and respect for diversity.
