The METRO Gold Line is open!
Ames Construction delivered the Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project under budget and ahead of schedule for the Metropolitan Council in Minnesota.
Community members came out on a chilly March morning for a party that included free rides, food trucks, and live music. They were joined by Met Council Chair Charlie Zelle, U.S. Sen. Tina Smith, U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, Woodbury Mayor Anne Burt, and other government and community partners in celebrating the new line.
For this project, Ames constructed a dedicated road for buses plus bridges, underpasses, and 16 stations. The 10-mile route from Woodbury to downtown St. Paul is the state’s first BRT line operating primarily on bus-only lanes.
