Build Arizona Award, New Construction, Public, Highway, Over $50 Million

Ames Construction was honored with a 2024 Build Arizona Award (New construction - Public, Highway - Over $50 million category) from the Arizona Chapter of Associated General Contractors for work on the SR 189: Nogales to Interstate 19 project.

2024 Minnesota Governor's Workplace Safety Award, Diamond Achievement

Ames Construction received the 2024 Minnesota Governor's Workplace Safety Award, Diamond Achievement, for an incident rate better than the 97th percentile of both the state and national average for the industry.

2024 Minneapolis Preservation Award

The Third Avenue Bridge project was honored with the 2024 Minneapolis Preservation Award from AIA of Minneapolis, Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission, and Preserve Minneapolis. The award was given for a smart restoration of a historic bridge with detailing worthy of its rehabilitation.

2024 ICE Award

Ames Construction received the 2024 ICE (Infrastructure Construction Excellence) Award in the Best Utility Infrastructure over $10 million category from the Colorado Contractor's Association for work on the National Western Center Campus Redevelopment.

2024 Public Works Project of the Year

Ames Construction received the 2024 Public Works Project of the Year award in the category of Historical Restoration/Preservation, more than $75 million, from the American Public Works Association for the rehabilitation of the Third Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

2024 Project of the Year Award

Ames Construction received the 2024 Project of the Year Award (transportation, more than $75 million category), from the Arizona chapter of the American Public Works Association (AWPA) for work on the SR 189: International Border to Grand Avenue project.

2024 Operator Safety Award, 1st Place

Ames Construction was awarded the 2024 1st Place Operator Safety Award, aggregate class, from the Nevada Mining Association for the Ames Backfill Portable Crusher having achieved the lowest total safety rate during the 2023 calendar year.

2024 Contractor Safety Award, 1st Place

Ames Construction was awarded the 2024 1st Place Contractor Safety Award for the Ames Backfill Crusher from the Nevada Mining Association for demonstrating exceptional commitment to safety in their operations, ensuring the well-being of their employees, partners, and the communities in which they operate. 

2024 Award of Merit

Ames Construction received the 2024 Award of Merit from the Utah Safety Council for the 14th consecutive year. Award of Merit winners have an incidence rate lower than the national average for their industry. They also demonstrate continuous safety performance improvement and have a safety and health program in place.

2024 Award of Honor

Ames Construction received the 2024 Award of Honor from the Utah Safety Council. The Award of Honor recipient meets all Award of Merit criteria plus exceptional accomplishment for reduction of injury and illness in the workplace.

Ames Construction received the 2024 Best Regional Projects Award of Merit from ENR Midwest for work on the Third Avenue Bridge CMGC project.

Ames Construction was honored as a 20-year member of Association of Women Contractors with the Pink Diamond Membership Milestone Award.

2023 Excellence in Concrete Award

Ames Construction received the 2023 Excellence in Concrete Award from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Intermountain Chapter for work on the DMAD Dam Rehabilitation project.

The U.S. 60 Pinto Creek Bridge project received the award for Best Use of Technology and Innovation in the Medium Project category for the Western Region in the 2023 America's Transportation Awards, sponsored by AASHTO, AAA, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

2022 People’s Choice Award

Ames Construction and design partners Alliant Engineering, Parsons, American Engineering Testing, TKDA, numerous subcontractors and vendors, and Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) were honored with the 2022 People's Choice Award for work performed on the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge Design-Build Project from ACEC of Minnesota. The award was voted on by attendees of the ACEC of Minnesota Gala.

Ames Construction received the 2022 Award For Excellence In Concrete Pavement for the I-15 Northbound project in the Divided Highway Urban category. Presented by Utah Ready-Mixed Concrete Association.

2022 Outstanding Project Honor Award

Ames Construction received the Outstanding Project Honor Award from America Society of Civil Engineers, for work on the I-15 Technology Corridor Design-Build. The award recognizes projects that demonstrate superior civil engineering skills and represent a significant contribution to civil engineering progress and society.

Ames Construction received the 2022 Zero Incidence Rate Award from the Colorado Contractors Association in recognition of an exemplary accident prevention record and 12 months without a lost-time injury or illness.

2022 Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Award

Ames Construction, Maricopa County DOT, and Tristar Engineering and Management received the 2022 Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Award for the Deer Valley Road: El Mirage Road to 109th Avenue project. The award is sponsored by ADOT, AGC Arizona Chapter, APWA, ACEC, AMCA, ATB, FHA and Maricopa County DOT

2022 Project of the Year Award

Ames Construction received the 2022 Project of the Year Award from the City Engineers Association of Minnesota (CEAM) for work on the City of Moorhead SE Main Ave./20th/21st Street Railroad Grade Separation Project.

2021 Excellence in Accident Prevention Award

Ames Construction received the 2021 Excellence in Accident Prevention Award from the Southern California Contractors Association for a minimal safety incidence rate. The association recognizes companies that implement outstanding safety practices to keep their employees safe on an annual basis. Ames has received this award for zero or minimal incidents for three consecutive years.

2021 Best Project, Airport/Transit, Project of the Year

ENR recognized the Salt Lake City International Airport Redevelopment with the 2021 Best Project, Airport/Transit, Project of the Year Award. For six years, Ames Construction was a key contributor to the redevelopment as a subcontractor to the first-time joint venture contracting team of HDJV.

2021 National Award of Merit

Ames Construction received the 2021 National Award of Merit from DBIA in the Transportation (Non-Aviation) category for work done on the I-15, Lehi Main to S.R. 92, Technology Corridor. The DBIA recognizes extraordinary projects that showcase how the project team went well above and beyond achieving cost, schedule, and quality goals, demonstrating unique design-build best practices to raise the bar.

2021 Best Projects Award of Merit – Energy/Industrial

Ames Construction received the 2021 Best Project, Award of Merit in the Energy/Industrial category from ENR for work completed on the Red Rock Hydroelectric Project near Pella Iowa. As the general contractor, Ames overcame a confined work area, large reservoir level and spillway release fluctuations, unbalanced soil loading from the dam’s slopes, and the requirement that all work be carried out with no impact to water control operations.

2021 Public Works Project of the Year - Environment

Ames Construction received the 2021 Public Works Project of the Year Award in the Environment category, greater than $75 million, for work done on the Globeville Landing Outfall project. The APWA award promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects, recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, the contractor, the consultant, and their cooperative achievements.

2021 DPI Outstanding Project Award

The team including Ames Construction (general contractor) was recognized by the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) for the ingenuity of their design in modifying Red Rock Dam on the Des Moines River in Iowa into a hydroelectric facility.

2021 First Place Safety Award - Highway Division

Ames Construction received the 2021 First Place Safety Award, from The Associated General Contractors (ACG) of North Dakota, in the Highway Division, more than 500,000 hours category.

2021 Regional Best Projects Award of Merit – Excellence in Safety

Ames Construction was recognized with the Award of Merit: Excellence in Safety Award for the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge Replacement Design-Build project. Approximately 300,000 staff hours were recorded during the 28-month project with no recordable incidents or lost-time injuries.

2021 Contractor Safety Award – Platinum Level

Ames Construction was awarded the 2021 Contractor Safety Award, Platinum Level, based on criteria established by the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) Safety Committee for distinguished safety performance. The NRC Platinum Safety Award is the highest award given for safety excellence in railroad work.

2021 Construction Work Zone Safety Award

Ames Construction received the 2021 Construction Work Zone Safety Award from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and the Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota (CPAM) for work performed on the 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Improvement Project in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

2021 Dan W. Renfro Partnering Award

Ames Construction and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) St. Paul District were honored with the Dan W. Renfro Partnering Award by the Mississippi Valley Associated General Contractors (AGC) for work performed on the Fargo-Moorhead (FM) Area Diversion Project. This annual award recognizes partnering success between the contractor, community and the USACE. The Mississippi Valley AGC branch has developed a unique relationship with the six USACE Districts that comprise the Mississippi Valley Division.

2021 Safety Excellence Diamond Award

Ames Construction received the 2021 Achievement of Safety Excellence Award, Diamond Level, Five-Star Rated, from the Associated General Contractors of Utah for an incident rate a minimum of 50% below the national average, in the “700,000-1 Million Hours Worked” category.

2021 Best Safety Record Award

Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Nevada honored Ames Construction with the 2021 Best Safety Record award in the General Contractor Engineering Division, Best Safety Record Over 250,000 hours category.

2021 Merit Award for Outstanding Performance

Ames Construction received the Merit Award for Outstanding Performance from MnDOT and Concrete Paving Association in recognition of the high-quality concrete pavement construction performed on the I-35W North MnPASS project, which has been rated the best project of its type completed in Minnesota during 2021.

2020 Contractor Mining Safety Award, First Place Nevada Mining Operations

Ames Construction has been awarded 1st in Safety for Contractor Operations by the Nevada Mining Association. Operations in Nevada achieved “Zero Reportable Injuries”, “Zero Restricted Day Injures” and “Zero Lost Time Injuries.”

2020 Best Safety Record Award

The Associated General Contractors of Nevada awarded Ames Construction Nevada Operations the 2020 Best Safety Record award in the General Contractor Engineering Division, Best Safety Record Over 100,000 hours category.

2020 Top Project, Class 1: New Construction (Rail)

Ames Construction received the 2020 Top Project Award from RT&S Magazine for work performed on the CSXIT, Fairburn Intermodal Capacity Expansion Project.

2020 Top Project, Class 1: Maintenance (Bridges)

Ames Construction received the 2020 Top Project Award from RT&S Magazine for emergency work on the BNSF Platte River Bridge near La Platte, Nebraska.

Ames Construction received the 2020 Excellence in Concrete in the category of Structures/Industrial from the American Concrete Institute for work completed on the Olmsted Hydro project near Orem, Utah.

2014 Award of Merit

The Utah Safety Council awarded Ames Construction its 2014 Award of Merit and Perfect Record Award. The Award of Merit recognizes companies with incident rates below the national average, sustained or continually improving statistics, and essential elements of safety and health programs. This is the ninth consecutive year that Ames has received this award.
