Ames Construction removed portions of the Vasquez Canal in Winter Park, Colorado, and replaced the aging system with 114-inch-diameter reinforced concrete pipe. Crews also installed inlets, performed grading to convey runoff into the system, and reclaimed and built new access roads. The tight working limits for this project were contained within an access road carved into the side of a mountain.
The pipe system, which transfers water to Denver and the Front Range, was replaced to increase reliability and efficiency, reduce seepage, and reduce maintenance costs.
