High Savery Dam

Ames self-performed more than 90% of the work activities for the construction of the High Savery Dam in Wyoming. Construction included the zoned earth-fill dam, the primary spillway, on-site batching and placement of concrete for the outlet tunnel, and the inclined intake structure.

Crews also constructed approach roads and mitigation areas around the dam for the zoned embankment.

Performed in an environmentally sensitive area, the project included construction of several wetland areas below the dam and reservoir-rim wetlands, gaging stations, fish barriers, picnic areas, and a boat ramp.

Earthwork included topsoil stripping and placement, excavation to mitigation areas, zoned embankment on the dam, roadway embankment on county roads, and miscellaneous structural excavation and backfill. Structural concrete production and placement was performed for the construction of the spillway, intake tower, and outlet works.
