Ames reclaimed and closed a flue gas desulfurization (FDG) pond at a Wyoming power plant.
Project scope included grading the existing bottom ash to grade, installing 11 dewatering wells, installing a geosynthetic clay liner, and placing two feet of cover soil over the liner. When the project was complete, the site was seeded and monitored for one year.
Because the power plant is located at an altitude of about 7,000 feet, Ames accomplished the reclamation and closure within a compressed scheduled because of the short work season and early fall planting window.
