Designed to accommodate dramatic commercial and residential growth, the 11400 South at I-15 Interchange Design-Build Joint Venture Project in South Jordan, Utah, involved significant improvements to major arterial roads, including the construction of a new Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) at I-15 and 114th South.
Crews reconstructed the freeway from 106th to 123rd, adding auxiliary lanes and rebuilding the entire pavement section. 114th South was completely rebuilt from I-15 to Bangerter Highway. The project included bridge construction over an existing rail line, a traffic bridge, and a pedestrian bridge over the Jordan River.
The project’s urban location required significant maintenance of traffic efforts, and the design-build team provided right-of-way acquisition services. With more than 200 affected properties within the right-of-way, the timing and success of the property acquisitions were critical to maintaining the project’s schedule. The project team sponsored a public engagement program to inform the affected communities and solicit feedback.
