Youth Get Excited about Construction at Shelby Bypass Project
There’s nothing like sparking an early interest in construction!
Ames Construction and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) recently welcomed young members of the Cross Trail Outfitters Western North Carolina Chapter to the U.S. 74 Shelby Bypass Project.
Kids and parents joined Ames and NCDOT team members for a cookout followed by an introduction to the bypass project and hands-on activities.
Rides with skilled operators in scrapers, haul trucks, and excavators were especially popular. Kids also learned how drones are operated and used in construction and how equipment is used to build the roadway.
We had a great evening with our guests, and we hope we inspired kids to see themselves in a future construction career.
