When a portion of Teton Pass collapsed in a landslide in June, thousands of people saw their commute times between Northwest Wyoming and Eastern Idaho triple.

Ames Construction crews are now working to permanently repair the pass.

Phase 1 of the Teton Pass Road (Highway 22) Big Fill project began in early August. For this phase, crews are excavating the failed material and installing a temporary soil nail wall. The project site sits at an elevation of 7,600 to 7,710 feet.

Ames crews and Wyoming DOT are working 24/7 to repair as much as possible before the arrival of winter weather and the ski season, which opens in late November. Nearby ski resorts receive 400 to more than 500 inches of snow annually.
