Ames Aggregates Processing Team Celebrates 35 Years
When a mining client wanted a single-source contractor that could self-perform all project activities, Ames Construction’s Mark Brennan and Les Steffes responded by forming an aggregates processing team in 1989.
The early team worked primarily in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Thirty-five years later, the group travels to projects across the country, handling 8 to 10 million tons of aggregates annually—and up to 15 million in big years. About 120 team members are currently supporting Ames projects from North Carolina to California.
“This team is successful because the people in our core group are willing to travel to different parts of the country to take on new challenges and have new adventures,” says Scott Nelson, Vice President of Paving and Aggregates.
Some of the team’s biggest projects in terms of aggregates handled include:
• The I-15 Corridor Expansion (I-CORE) project in Utah
• A Nevada crushing operation ongoing since 1996
• Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway in Arizona
• Azusa reclamation project in California.
• Ongoing mining contracts in Arizona.
Happy 35th anniversary to everyone on the aggregates processing team! You help our people, clients, partners, and communities to flourish.
